José Luis García Giménez, Ph.D.

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. García-Giménez graduated in chemical science in 2002 and in biochemistry in 2004. After obtaining his Ph.D. at the University of Valencia, he worked in Hake’s laboratory at the Adolf Butenandt Institute, LMU University, Munich (Germany). Dr. García-Giménez holds a scientific position in the Center for Biomedical Network Research (CIBER-ISCIII) in the thematic area of Rare Diseases. He is a professor of the Master’s Course in Physiology and the Master’s course in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia.He has co-authored 28 manuscripts and three book chapters. He has patented a bi-dimensional proteomic approach to identify oxidative post-translational modifications in histones. He recently received the Entrepreneur National Award for the development of a spin-off based on epigenetic diagnostics and characterization of epigenetic drugs.

Salvador Mena Mollá Ph.D.

Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Mena-Mollá is graduated in biochemistry and obtained his Ph.D. in Physiology at the University of Valencia, studying molecular biology and experimental therapies in mouse and cell models of cancer. He worked at Green Molecular SL, a biotechnology start-up company, investigating natural polyphenols with antitumor activity. During this stage, he participated in developing applications that were patented by the company. Then he went to work at the Spanish National Cancer Centre (CNIO) as a staff scientist in the Laboratory of Tumor Markers where he identified different biomarkers based on DNA methylation for an early diagnosis of diseases. He has been working at the Institute of Molecular Recognition and Technological Development (IDM) since 2012, developing microarray technologies for different health care applications.In addition, he obtained a Master’s degree in Creation and Management of New Technology-Based Companies (University of Valencia) in 2012. He received the Entrepreneur National Award for the development of a spin-off based on epigenetic diagnostics and characterization of epigenetic drugs.

Lorena Peiró Chova, Ph.D

Chief Technical Officer

Dr. Peiró-Chova obtained her degree in biochemistry at the University of Valencia. She obtained her Ph.D. in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Valencia, where she studied the genetic interactions between transcriptional factors (activators and repressors) in the initiation of the transcription process in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Then she obtained a Master’s degree in Biobanks and Use of Human Biological Samples in Biomedical Research.She has been the technical coordinator of the INCLIVA Biobank since 2010 and her investigation is focused on the analysis of the limitations and opportunities that different human biological sample types afford for use in epigenetic studies. She has published several articles in the fields of molecular biology, biomedicine, and epigenetics. Since 2012 she has also been collaborating in several research projects related to epigenetics. Dr. Peiró-Chova received the Entrepreneur National Award for the development of a spin-off based on epigenetic diagnostics and characterization of epigenetic drugs.

Daymé González Rodríguez

Chief Bioinformatics Officer

Ms. Daymé González Rodríguez is graduated in Informatics Engineering (Universidad de La Laguna) and she obtained a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics (Universitat de Valencia). She has worked in companies dedicated to activities connected with the port sector and the development of mobile and desktop applications, performing tasks such as organization of the software plan, programming and software quality control. She has also worked in the research field analyzing and assesing microRNA data and their role as biomarkers in several diseases using bioinformatics tools. She has experience in processing and analysis of NGS and microarray data. In addition, she has knowledge and experience in databases administration and several programming languages such as R, C++, Java, Python, among other.

Eva María García López

Technical support

Dr. Eva Mª García is graduated in chemical science (2003) and Ph.D. in Public Health (2016) at the University of Valencia. She worked in the research group of Dr. José María Martín-Moreno in the field of chronic diseases and specifically in cancer. She also worked in the group of Dr. Federico Pallardó providing scientific-technical support on rare diseases to the research group . She joined EpiDisease in October 2016, as head of the biostatistics unit. She is co-author of three European reports about cancer control plans and policies, two book chapters about cancer epidemiology and prevention and four research articles.

Gisselle Pérez Machado

Product development and consulting

Gisselle Pérez Machado is graduated in Pharmacy (1990), from the Central University of Las Villas (UCLV, Cuba). She has a master in Genetics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) (2001) and a master in Experimental Toxicology from the University of Havana ( 2002). She obtained her PhD in Genetics at the UAB (2006) (UAB). She has worked in different research laboratories: Department of Genetics and Microbiology of the UAB, Department of Drug Design of the UCLV and Dept of Physiology of the University of Valencia in subjects related to the assessing and development of drugs, phytosanitary products, and cosmetics, as well as in molecular studies of rare progeroid diseases. She has extensive teaching experience as a Full Professor (UCLV). She is a professor of the Master in Physiology and the Master in Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia. She is co-author of 25 articles and 2 book chapters. She contributed to the registration of medicines and biotechnological products in Cuba. She has the prize of the Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Education of Cuba.
